▪️ The Gospel According to Luke 1:1–3 ▪️
We begin our reading of the Gospel according to Luke, one of the four canonical Gospels:
“Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which have been fulfilled among us, just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us, it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus”…
Luke the Evangelist, a servant of God, historian, and physician, begins by explaining why he wrote this book. Many accounts had already been written, and not everyone presented these events in the same way. There was great interest, and a great deal of information was circulating about the events connected with Jesus Christ. Hundreds of voices — much as there are today. But holy accuracy was needed.
Luke was a deeply believing man of God, a fellow worker of the Apostle Paul. He knew a great deal and was an instrument of the Holy Spirit. Luke also wrote the book of Acts. This is the man who wrote this Gospel!
