Luke.1:8-9
So it was, that while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his division, according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot fell to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.
 
Zacharias was a sincere and godly priest. The Word of God gives him a very high testimony. By God’s providence, he was the one who was to become the father of the great prophet John the Baptist. Being a true priest of God has never been easy, especially during such a pivotal time in the history of Judea.
 
“For the lips of a priest should keep knowledge, And people should seek the law from his mouth; For he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.” (Mal.2:7)
 
Throughout the ages, God’s faithful priests helped people understand the good will of the Most High. This was exactly what their priestly ministry called them to do.
