▪️ The Gospel According to Luke 1:9 ▪️

Luke.1:9
…According to the custom of the priesthood, his lot fell to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

The priest Zacharias was carrying out his usual duties according to the order of his division, but he did so very reverently and sincerely. What did the offering of incense point to? What did it mean, and what did it tell the believers? “…And in His temple everyone says, ‘Glory!’” (Ps.29:9).

The offering of incense was a great symbol of the prayers of believers and of the merits of Jesus Christ—that beautiful fragrance. Because there are the merits of Christ, there is also an answer to prayer! “Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.” (Ps.141:2). “And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand.” (Rev.8:4).

This is what the offering of incense meant as the priest Zacharias performed it at that time!

May every prayer of ours ascend to God with firm faith in the merits of Christ! The answer will come!
