▪️ The Gospel According to Luke 1:15 ▪️

For he (John the Baptist) will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb…

Who is great in the sight of the Lord? This is not of physical strength or strength of intellect. For the great work of preparing the way of the Lord, a person was needed who was great in meekness and humility. “But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word.” (Isaiah 66:2)

John’s humility was shown throughout all his life and ministry. His modest way of life helped in fulfilling the special work for God.

To be filled with the Holy Spirit should be characteristic of all believers. The Lord God wants His Spirit to dwell in the hearts of people. Every Christian can be filled with the Holy Spirit.

John’s mission was especially great. Does each of us also have his own, even if small, assignment from God?
